Fellows Auctioneers have been selling since 1876. They'd been a Star Digital client for years, so I knew the platform well. It worked. But the web had moved on and the design was showing its age. The tricky part was scale with 3 to 4 auctions a week and hundreds to thousands of lots in each. Any changes had to feel familiar to existing buyers while being noticeably better.

The thinking
Fellows Auctioneers were looking to redesign their “lot detail” page to be smoother and more streamlined with the rest of their website. They wanted to limit the action of scrolling for more information, as this took the user away from the interactive “bid” aspect of the page.
The design
The solution was to have the information swipe in when requested by use of “description” and “condition report” buttons. This kept all the information above the fold and did not interfere with bidding. The new redesign was first sketched out to think about placement of all required objects, before being made into an interactive protoype with Adobe XD to display to the client, covering all user journeys.
