Challenge
Savills, a recognised leader in real estate, needed to streamline their auction platform while maintaining strict brand alignment with their main estate agent website—including colours, logo, and typography.
The key design challenge was balancing competing priorities: catalogue and lot pages needed to be image-heavy since property visuals drive purchase decisions, while simultaneously presenting vital auction information without creating visual clutter or compromising usability across devices.
My Role
As the sole designer on this project, I was responsible for creating an auction platform that honoured Savills' established brand identity while solving the information hierarchy challenge inherent to auction listings. I worked directly with both Savills stakeholders and our development team, bridging design intent with technical implementation throughout the build process.
PRocess
I approached the project by first ensuring complete brand consistency with Savills' main website, incorporating their existing colour palette, logo treatment, and typography system into the auction platform design.
The core design solution centred on prioritising property imagery—the primary decision-making factor for buyers—while organising essential auction information into accordion components. This approach prevented page clutter while maintaining accessibility to vital details across both mobile and desktop experiences.
Working closely with our development team, I built the complete auction website in Adobe XD, which enabled efficient multi-page development and the creation of interactive prototypes. These prototypes allowed pages to be linked together, providing clients with a navigable experience for approval. Throughout development, I liaised with developers to address technical considerations and tested implementations to resolve any issues that emerged during the build.
Result
A streamlined auction platform that maintained Savills' premium brand standards while solving the dual challenge of showcasing image-heavy property content and presenting complex auction information through an accordion-based interface optimised for mobile and desktop users.
